Pet Surgery at Heritage Veterinary Hospital
Whenever you utter the words pet surgery to a pet owner, it sends shivers down their spine. Just the thought of it makes the imagination run wild with all the things that could go wrong. When you bring your pet in for surgery at Heritage Veterinary Hospital at Creve Coeur, you can count on professional and compassionate veterinary care. At our clinic, there is nothing more important to us than our patient’s safety and comfort.
Our clinic is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). All American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practices are required to maintain the highest possible standards of service. We abide by the latest and safest surgical guidelines which include all of our sterilization and anesthesia protocols.
What Pet Surgeries Do We Provide?
The majority of the surgeries we perform are done right here at our Creve Coeur facility by our veterinarian, Dr. Sanford who has years of experience with pet surgeries. On the other hand, some pets may require complex or orthopedic surgeries that require highly specialized skills. In such cases, we will either invite a surgical specialist to our hospital or we can refer you to another board-certified surgeon. Either way, we will ensure that your pet is in the best hands possible and you will not have to worry about the care your pet receives.
We will always try to provide you with as much information as we can about what to expect before, during, and after your pet’s surgery. We want you to have peace of mind while we take care of your pet. Some of the more typical pet surgeries that we perform include:
- Routine spay and neuter
- Patella luxation
- Oral surgery
What To Expect Before and After Surgery
Heritage Veterinary Hospital was designed to optimize the experience of our patients. To that end, the facility has several levels that afford us the ability to have separate check-in areas for different pets so that they can have as much privacy during surgery as possible.
Being an AHHA accredited practice means that we use state of the art equipment during surgery for all our patients. That includes our monitoring equipment which allows us to measure patients’ EKG, blood pressure, CO2, and other vitals before, during, and after surgery. We perform comprehensive wellness exams and pre-anesthetic blood work before each pet’s surgery to ensure that they are healthy enough to receive anesthesia.
